With a longstanding career as a producer before starting his own label of the same name, Indivision has long been at the forefront of the drum & bass scene. Now, expanding into new horizons with Indivision Music, the label has seen releases from a plethora of new names, providing a platform for talented up-and-comers to shine. 2020 has already seen releases from Echo Inada, Signal Craintif, Airos, and Indivision himself, and now continues with a new collaboration from Prosper Proper and KUILL entitled ‘Something I Believe’.

Hailing from France, Prosper Proper is a classically trained violinist from a young age who has since gone on to learn bass, cello, guitar, cajon, theremin, and more. His impressive background and diverse influences, namely funk, disco, reggae, and bossa nova, give his music a certain freshness, often combining raw instrumentals with the power of electronic production for a unique and captivating result.

KUILL, the other half behind this release, hails from the UK and brings an elusive pop element to the mix with his signature blend of electro-soul and alternative influences, focusing heavily on melodic and lyric-driven sounds. With 5 years experience under his belt already, KUILL has experienced the highs and lows of the scene, taking each challenge in stride, his music heavily influenced by his struggles. With a new found self-confidence, KUILL delivers emotive alt-pop productions full of rich textures, effortless cadence, and, above all, a core sense of honesty and integrity.

Bringing this two diverse but equally talented artists together, Indivision are proud to announce the release of ‘Something To Believe’. After receiving a demo from Prosper Proper at the same time as KUILL was looking for a home for his vocals, lucky timing certainly helped this track come to life.

‘Something I Believe’ perfectly combines both artists unique sounds, delivering an upbeat, funk-infused, alt-pop track that is full of life. Colourful and vibrant, this is a feel-good number that has found its perfect home on Indivision Music. Expect more from KUILL on the label in the future and keep an eye on what’s next from Indivision Music in 2020!

 I started to take vocal lessons when I was 11 years old and discovered early on that I wanted to create my own melodies. My teacher introduced me to a mix of classical and modern music. When I was 13 years old, I made a song with my cousin that I submitted to the Norwegian Eurovision youth edition. It didn’t make the cut, but I knew that I one day would make it work. It would just require a lot of hard and my full commitment.

When I was 15 years old, I wrote a couple of songs with a friend of mine for our choir. To create music felt amazing, but there was always something missing. It felt like I was never quite where I was supposed to be.

The turning point came in 2017. Until then I had only created awful sounding music in Garage band. In 2017 I finally got Logic Pro X, and it was an eyeopener. I started to produce music with my best friend, under the name “Hax&Jax”. This was a precious time of try and fail adventures, which did not really end up in many finished tracks. Nevertheless, it was the moment it all started.

In 2019 I moved to the west coast of Norway with my fiancé. Totally isolated from the outside world, in a tiny place called Førde. Surrounded by high mountains and long fjords my creativity got a new kick. I watched endless YouTube tutorials, eager to learn more and become a better producer. I worked on new tracks every single day (driving my fiancé absolutely crazy, as we lived in a studio) and started to release my songs.

My artistic road has been bumpy. Filled with horrible and muddy tracks with almost no listeners, to some tracks I am really proud of. One thing is certain, I am still learning, and I am always eager to get better and create more impactful songs. The sky is the limit.

 2. Your biggest influence?

It all started with Avicii. The first time I really got into EDM was when a friend of mine showed me a very early version of Avicii’s famous track “Levels”. I instantly fell in love with the genre and started to listen to other artists such as David Guetta, Zedd and Martin Garrix to name a few. They all have had an impact on my creativity, but Avicii’s music and his unique melodies will always have a special place in my heart. He is my biggest inspiration and his music is the main reason why I started to produce music.

3.  A track that never gets old?

Well that’s easy. Levels by Avicii, forever and always.

4.   Who you would want to work with in the industry?

There are so many people that I admire, that it is almost impossible to answer that question. I would love to work with artists that inspire me to create original melodies. The list could go on and on, as there are a lot of talented artists out there, but to work with Zedd or Martin Garrix would be an absolute honor.

 5.     Where do you see electronic dance music in 10 and 30 years from now? Will electronic music artists be bigger than rock stars or might they already be bigger? In the terms of money, guest numbers in concerts and fame of course.

In my opinion, EDM is our generations main genre, and it will become even more impactful in the future. The potential for the genre is limitless as there are so few rules one has to follow. EDM provides the producers with such freedom, that it is impossible not to fall in love with its unique sound. It is a very rich genre with a lot of different sounds and expressions. We see it already, with the huge gigs and the all-time summer songs, EDM artists are becoming this era’s rock stars.  

 6.     What do you personally consider to be the incisive moments in your artistic career?

I believe that I would never have arrived where I am today, had it not been for my experience in the famous Norwegian boys’ choir, named Sølvguttene. Between the age of 11 and 14 years old, I discovered my passion for delivering music that touched huge amounts of people. We sang in front of big crowds and were known for our harmonic and clean sound. To this day I believe that my tracks are impacted by this musical philosophy. Our highlight was to sing at the Norwegian King’s 70^th birthday. This choir experience truly showcased the power of music to me.

Prior to my producing career, I have had a lot of choir experience. After Sølvguttene, I joined the Neon Vocal choir. With Neon Vocal I became a Norwegian champion in choir, and later on got a silver medal in World Choir Games in South Africa in the summer of 2018.

My producing turning point came in 2019 when I signed my first partnership with SoundMojo. They have been a great source of support. They have even shared my music to their main channel, WhatchMojo, and exposed it to millions of their daily followers. This opportunity was truly transformational to my journey, as this was the time, I could see my tracks being listened to by huge amounts of people..

When I started to release music in 2019, I had a total of 500 listens. This is not a lot, however it made me extremely happy. As a beginning producer, to see your music being listened to, even just once, is truly a beautiful experience. So far in 2020 my count is over 50k listens over all platforms (Numbers from June 2020) and that is just awesome. I have a long way to go. A lot more needs to be learned. I need to spend many more hours mixing and producing. Nonetheless, I am so grateful for where I am today and that I am able to release my songs for people to hear. This is just the beginning, and the sky is the limit. I cannot wait to see what the future will bring.
